If you are in southern Australia (Tasmania included), within one hundred kilometres of the Indian or Southern Oceans, and have access to somewhere bushy and sandy, chances are excellent that you can see this species in flower, right now…or very soon.

One CommentAll but one of this post’s photos were taken on a single midwinter day. This is when relatively few flowers bloom…but it is prime time for Pterostylis – the orchid genus more commonly known as Greenhoods.
One CommentBiodiversity rules, OK? Western Australia has around 13,000 “higher” plant species. The southwest is most especially rich in unique, beautiful and wondrous-strange flowers. This one is WA’s floral emblem.
