Season’s greetings from Pelican Yoga

…with a musical bonus, 100% free of irony…and a suitably ironic “salute” to Australia’s most prominent “bad Santa”

Merry whatever to everyone!

(photo taken on 3 June 2021, from the little jetty on the Nedlands shore of Perth’s Swan River. This jetty is a short walk from “Steve’s”, where many lunches have been enjoyed)

The lovely musical bonus is a wordless river song, authored by one of my favourite saxophonists.

He – Julien Wilson – delivered this version circa 2013, in his hometown of Melbourne, with two of his (and my) favourite Australian jazz compatriots, pianist Barney McAll and bassist Jonathan Zwartz.

Two of Julien Wilson’s albums (Swailing and This is Always) offer quite different but equally excellent versions of this piece.

His website is here

An imminent new album (Another Dance) is one reason to look forward to 2022;  you can order it now from lionshare.

And let us pray that Australia’s all-too-frail “national bull-detector” proves still robust-enough in 2022.

If so, we will soon be rid of this particular “Santa”:
