Word power: “The Economist” nails Facebook

…in just one perfect sentence:

Its culture melds a ruthless pursuit of profit with a Panglossian and narcissistic belief in its own virtue.

The cover of the March 24th-30th edition of The Economist is a clever, Facebook-specific version of “epic fail”

Its leader is succinct, stinging, sensible.

I can only hope that one other sentence therein proves prescient:

As users become better informed, the alchemy of taking their data without paying and manipulating them for profit may die.
