The relevant desert is the largest one in South Asia, and also one of world’s youngest.
Nonetheless, it is a safe bet that most of the world’s humans do not even know its name.
In this desert, a summer day maximum temperature of 50 degrees is not a rare event.
Yet no other desert has such a high human population density.
